Gabigol, David Luiz and six other Flamengo players could sign pre-contracts with other clubs

Renowned as one of Flamengo's greatest idols, Gabigol has rejected the latest offer to renew his contract for another season and is close to leaving the Rio de Janeiro club. The forward was free to sign a pre-contract with another team this Monday (1) to transfer at no cost at the end of the season. According to his agent, work on the player's departure has already begun.

David Luiz's situation

After experiencing ups and downs with the red-black team, David Luiz has rediscovered his good form, is back in the starting line-up and has had some great performances with the squad led by Tite. However, the 37-year-old player is also in the final six months of his contract and is available for an agreement with another club.

In a recent interview, Marcos Braz spoke about the experienced defender's situation and said that the situation will be dealt with at the “right time”. David Luiz's good relationship with Flamengo's management is crucial for the situation to be analyzed calmly and naturally.

Free players

In addition to David Luiz and Gabi, six other players are in the same situation. Among them are some homegrown talents and athletes who are already part of the professional squad, such as goalkeeper Dyogo Alves and defender Diegão.

This year, the defender played his last tournament with the youth division in the Copinha. Diegão turns 21 this month, so he has already been training with the professional team, but has not been selected for the games.

Dyogo, who turned 20 in January, still has time to play one more season in the youth team. However, the goalkeeper, who is one of the 16 survivors of the fire that killed 10 boys in the squad at Ninho do Urubu in 2019, has been attending the professional team and being listed as the third goalkeeper for the games.

Defender Darlan (20 years old), right-back Felipe Brian (20 years old), midfielder Jean Carlos (20 years old) and striker Kauan Pereira (18 years old), who play in the under-20 team led by Filipe Luís, are in the same situation at the end of their contracts.
