Singer Jão surprised his Bahian fans last Tuesday (02), when he announced that his show that would take place in Salvador next Saturday, the 6th, at Arena Fonte Nova, was postponed. The reason was the announcement of the final of the Bahian championship, which will take place the following day at the same location.

Date clash

Last year, singer Jão announced the official dates of the “Supertour”, which is currently traveling throughout Brazil with shows in the country's main stadiums. Among the announced dates was Salvador, with a show scheduled for next Saturday, April 6, at Arena Fonte Nova. However, the final of the Bahian championship was also announced, with the match between the teams Vitóra and Bahia in the same stadium, at 4 pm on April 7, on Sunday, making the organization of the stadium and the production of the show in a situation tight skirt.

It is worth remembering that the structure of Jão's tour takes up a large part of the space. Containing a big screen, large scenes and a huge walkway that takes up almost half of the lawn. So it would be almost impossible to dismantle the entire show very quickly.

The Fonte Nova Arena is considered one of the main venues for holding major events in the capital of the state of Bahia, hosting not only games, but also events such as the Salvador Summer Festival and concerts such as those by Ivete Sangalo, who has even recorded a DVD there. The arena currently belongs to the state of Bahia, but its administration and operation are the responsibility of Fonte Nova Negócios e Participações, or FNP, which helped reopen the stadium in 2013.

John's pronouncement

In a statement, Arena Fonte Nova said that it offered a new format for the artist's production, in case he wanted to perform the show without disrupting the match the following day, but that the offer was denied. Also in the statement, the arena informed that new dates were given for the artist to perform at the venue, and that the chosen date was August 24th.

On his social media, Jão lamented having to postpone the show with less than a week to go, and stated that the arena's management should have paid more attention. “As you know, the date at Arena Fonte Nova has been announced since last year. However, they prevented us from holding the show with less than a week left, suddenly, due to the championship final — an important and valuable event, but which , precisely for this reason, it deserved attention from the arena management before giving us the date for the show, more than eight months ago”, he wrote.

Tickets, which were for April 6th, will be valid for the new date. Almost all sectors are already sold out, but it is not known if any more batches will be made available.
