London's O2 Arena hosted the 44th edition of the BRIT Awards, one of the biggest awards shows in British music, and on that night RAYE was the big winner with six awards at the ceremony, making history at the BRITs. In addition to the singer, names such as Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris and SZA were also highlights on the red carpet of the 2024 edition.

At the BRIT Awards, singer-songwriter RAYE won Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “Escapism” with 070 Shake, Best New Artist, Best Pop Performance, Best R&B Performance and Songwriter of the Year, breaking the record for most nominations received by a single artist in a year.

BRIT Awards 2024 promoted changes this year

The BRITs Awards are one of the most prominent and relevant events in the British music industry. Year after year, editions award awards and recognize the talent of British and international artists. The award has been held for 46 years. For 2024, the number of nominees for Artist of the Year and International Artist of the Year has increased from five to ten. More than half (55%) of the 2024 BRIT nominations feature women, either as solo artists or as part of an all-female group. This number rises to 57% if women are included in mixed groups.

A new genre award category has also been introduced for 2024: R&B Act, which together with Alternative/Rock Act, Dance Act, Pop Act, Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act, collectively showcase the versatility, creativity and diverse styles of music in the UK.
