Mc Livinho alleges racism after being banned from boarding a cruise
Last Sunday (09), Trap and funk singer Mc Livinho accuses the cruise company Costa Cruzeiros of racial prejudice, for not letting him and 7 other friends board a cruise promoted by the company. The singer states that he did not know that negative Covid tests were necessary and that at the time of boarding he was asked, as they had not previously carried out the laboratory test, to take the rapid test before boarding. However, one of the friends tested positive for the disease, and the ship's crew decided that none of them could board the ship.
On Monday, according to the singer's report, the friend went to a basic health unit to repeat the test and it came back negative. Livinho went to his Instagram and vented, “Prejudiced and racist. Greatest lack of respect towards us yesterday. We were eight people. Everyone was happy with this trip. You put us in random order and faked the Covid test. Nobody had told us that we had to take a Covid test to travel. When we arrived, we went in good faith and took the Covid test, it turned out that one of us had Covid. The kid went to the clinic today and tested negative for Covid..
The company Costa Cruises, in a note on its social networks, informs that the result of the Covid-19 test must be presented 24 hours before boarding by all passengers, and, as the passenger was in a closed van along with the rest of the group, everyone was prevented from boarding for safety reasons, that is, due to the risk of having also been contaminated or contaminating the cruise passengers. “Referring to the case that occurred on March 5, 2023, Costa Cruzeiros informs that one of the passengers accompanying the MC Livinho tested positive for Covid-19 at the time of boarding, thus making it impossible to board the ship Costa Firenze, in Santos.”says the note.
The singer, in contact with the UOL portal, said he hopes to be reimbursed for the amount paid, and that, if he does not reach an agreement, he will take legal action against the cruise company. “Because of the pre-judgment, we are now at home, we are not on our trip, we were supposed to be enjoying my vacation days. I take 15 days of vacation every year. Our friends are all at home, our dream was to travel on the parade A few years ago, I couldn't board because of this prejudice of looking at our clothes, our skin color… 2015 didn't happen, 2023, until when will this nonsense, this damn prejudice?”
Costa Cruzeiros concludes in a note that it repudiates any type of prejudice and does not agree with measures that violate this. The company concludes that it complies with all the safety protocols of the competent health bodies in force since the beginning of this cruise season.
