Monica's Gang gets a new live-action spin-off series starring Franjinha and Milena

Monica's Gang will gain a new live action production, this time a series with Franjinha and Milena as protagonists. Entitled “Franjinha and Milena in Search of Science”the news was announced in a video by the comic book creator himself, Mauricio de Sousa, who introduced the actors Fabrício Gabriel and Bia Lisboa who will play their characters in the series. HBO Max then announced the start of filming for the new series that will be produced by Cartoon Network in partnership with Mauricio de Sousa's production company.

The series will feature Mauro D'Addio – director of the film On wheels – in the general direction and will also have the artistic supervision of Daniel Rezende, director of the adaptations of Turma da Mônica for the cinema. It is worth remembering that Rezende will also be in charge of the live action film of Chico Bento, expected for 2023.

Furthermore, all the content of the plot, including the script, will be supervised and reviewed by the Serrapulheira Institute, which will provide all the technical and scientific assistance necessary for the story. The adaptation aims to awaken not only the friendship between the protagonists, but also the scientific curiosity of its viewers.

Together, the duo embarks on a fun journey, with the purpose of discovery through scientific thought. Franjinha, with her skill for exact sciences and inventions, and Milena, her new and powerful friend, full of attitude, curiosity and a natural talent for biology, will create a strong friendship full of collaboration and learning throughout the series. Guided by Milena, Franjinha begins to communicate better and clearly convey all of his knowledge, while the girl, full of intelligent and interesting questions, realizes that she is a scientist too.

The new series is already being produced in two seasons ordered by HBO Max, but the streaming service has not yet announced the premiere date.
