“Batwoman” canceled by The CW after three seasons

One less series in Arrowverse. 'Batwoman' has been canceled after three seasons on the American television channel, The CW. The news was announced this Friday (29) by showrunner from the series, Caroline Dries.

In her Twitter post, Dries expressed her regret over the show's cancellation, saying she was “upset but grateful” for having been able to produce the show's 51 episodes over three seasons. She also thanked the crew and actors who contributed to the series.

The cancellation of 'Batwoman' is not entirely unexpected. The series had been experiencing a steady decline in viewership since its first season, and there were known issues behind the scenes that led to Ruby Rose's departure from the lead role of Kate Kane/Batwoman. The actress was replaced at the beginning of the second season by Javicia Leslie, who played a character named Ryan Wilder, the new Batwoman.

Last month, it was reported by the American media that three DC series were in serious danger of being cancelled, with only one of them expected to survive. In addition to 'Batwoman', the series mentioned were 'Legends of Tomorrow' and the new 'Naomi'. The future of the other two shows has not yet been announced at the time of this article.

Batwoman stars Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder, Bridget Regan as Poison Ivy, Rachel Skarsten as Beth Kane, Camrus Johnson as Luke Kane/Batwing, Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore, Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton, as well as Robin Givens and Nick Creegan.
