Brad Pitt buys 214 million reais mansion

Brad Pitt has purchased a mansion for $40 million, equivalent to more than R$214 million. The property dates back to 1918 and is located in California, in the Carmel Highlands community. The Hollywood heartthrob's million-dollar purchase was reported by “The Wall Street Journal”.

The Carmel Highlands region is located in Monterey County, approximately 200 km from San Francisco.

The American actor and producer acquired the property that previously belonged to businessman Joe Ritchie, who passed away in early 2022. Joe had purchased the mansion in mid-1999.

The sale was made off-market, as the mansion was never advertised for sale. However, when reporting the news of Brad's purchase, the newspaper stated that the price paid by the actor is at the top of the list of the highest real estate investments made in Carmel Highlands.

Pitt's newly acquired abode, called “DL James House”was designed by architect Charles Sumner Greene, and was designed to resemble Tintagel in Cornwall, England. The residence is a historic property designed in the 20th century. Built on the rocks of the California coast, it has several windows facing the Pacific Ocean, just a few meters from the beach with a unique Mediterranean style.

Also popularly known as “Seaward”or “towards the sea” in Portuguese, the residence was characterized by the critic Randell Makison, who wrote several books about Greene's works, such as “a unique monument in this country”.

The actor won an Oscar for best supporting actor in 2020 for the film “Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood”who was previously married to actress Jennifer Aniston, is now locked in a legal battle with actress Angelina Jolie, his ex-wife, with whom he has six children, over a winery where the couple had married in 2014.
