“I am relearning to accept my body”

On Wednesday (17), the 52-year-old model and presenter, Luciana Gimenez, responded to malicious comments about nudity and sensuality at her age in an interview with “Quem”.

“Ageism is something I notice every day. We live in a sexist society where women have to hide, where we can’t have a healthy relationship with our bodies. You know what I think is really hypocritical? In many places around the world you can go topless.” criticized Luciana.

“Here in Brazil you can wear a bikini, even if it's tiny. Now, if you're just wearing a star covering your nipples, you're called all sorts of names. Pointed at and judged. Why do we women have to hide ourselves?”said the presenter to “Quem”

The model also said that she is relearning to accept her own body and that she doesn't like it when people say she is too old to do what she does. “When we are young, we have to hide our bodies, otherwise we are accused of seducing others. When we mature, it is because we are no longer old enough and showing our bodies is a lack of awareness. So I ask you, when will we be able to live freely and in peace, without our bodies representing some kind of aggression to the society that loves to judge?”continued Luciana.

Gimenez has learned not to absorb malicious and sexist comments. “We can’t listen to people who can barely love themselves, let alone love others. I prefer to focus on positive people who know how important it is to praise, support and be a driving force rather than an anchor in someone else’s life.”ends.
