Luís Castro says he was not contacted by Botafogo to renew his contract

Botafogo is the current leader of the Brazilian Championship, with 24 points after 10 rounds played. Despite the good phase, and a surprising start, the club from Rio, it seems, still does not show interest in renewing with coach Luís Castro.

According to the coach himself, conversations between the parties have not even started, but that is not something that worries him. The Portuguese coach also stated that he respects the club’s schedule and that he only follows the orders of what was requested.

According to data from the Transfermakt website, Luís Castro, who arrived at Botafogo in March 2022, would have signed a contract with the team until December 31, 2023, with just over 6 months left until the end of the contract between the club and the coach.

According to Castro, there are surveys of other clubs by the coach, being updated by his manager. However, the coach stated that there are some clauses in the contract that facilitate the departure of both the coach in relation to the club and the club in relation to the coach.

As commander of the Rio de Janeiro club, Luís Castro played 78 games, having won 39, 14 draws and 25 defeats. In addition to leading the Brazilian Championship, Botafogo in the current season also leads Group A of the Copa Sudamericana, with only one game left for the end of the group stage. If it maintains the first place, the team will automatically qualify for the round of 16 of the competition.
