Most Anticipated Comeback of the Decade First Queendom Teaser

K-pop girl group Red Velvet has finally revealed their comeback date. The group has officially announced their plans for the long-awaited comeback. Red Velvet will be back with their sixth mini album “Queendom”, which will be released on August 16. In addition, Red Velvet also shared on social media a sparkling logo teaser for the upcoming mini album, the new era schedule calendar, and the mood sampler, that is, the concept of the group's new work. However, this is the group's comeback in a gap of more than a year and a half.

Red Velvet also launched a new promotional project ahead of the girls' long-awaited comeback this August. From July 26 to August 1, the South Korean group held a promotional event titled “Queens Mystic General Store” through their official Instagram page. The group presented objects such as props from previous music videos, so that fans could remember various moments of the Red Velvet idols.

This project also features archival videos of the bonus tracks released by the K-pop group, featuring visuals of the Red Velvet girls in various looks. Red Velvet has also released individual videos that highlight each member of the group.

On May 31, 2021, member Joy released her first solo mini album “Hello“, with re-recordings of songs that were successful in South Korea in the 1990s and 2000s.”I really like that retro vibe“, declared Joy.

“Songs from the 1990s and 2000s gave me a sense of healing”, said Joy. “To be honest, people my age might not know a lot of music from the 90s and 2000s, but I worked on these songs like I was an intern.”, declared the Red Velvet member.

Joy also explained why she chose to revolve around songs that are considered quite recent. “Typically when you think of a remake album, you think of songs that are much older.”, said the Red Velvet diva.

The artist also shared her love for the era: “I really like this retro vibe. I've even said that I wish I had been born earlier so I could have lived through those times. I really like that aesthetic and vibe that conveys a pure and honest feeling, which is presented in films and other content from that era.”, revealed the artist.

Joy also expressed her gratitude to the artists of that era who gave her permission to re-record their songs. “They're all such good songs that I didn't want to mess up the emotional aura of the original.”, said the singer.

K-pop group Red Velvet's Wendy has also released her first solo album “Like Water“, which was held on April 5, 2021.
