Boris Johnson official trip to India cancelled
The official trip that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was due to make to India in late April, his first major bilateral visit abroad, was canceled due to the worsening pandemic in that country, Downing Street said.
“In view of the current status of the coronavirus , Prime Minister Boris will not be able to visit India next week,” a statement announces.
He will speak with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi “at the end of the month” to discuss the “ambitious” trade association that the two countries wish to adopt, the note adds.
The two hope to organize a face-to-face meeting later this year, the British government said. Johnson’s visit was due to begin on April 26.
