Gorillaz: boom in the 2000s
In the transition from the 90s to 2000, technological ideas took over society. With new computers, more advanced production ideas and so many other things, it was the perfect time to launch a very innovative project. Thus, in 1998 the band Gorillaz began work. However, it was not a group of people on stage, but rather a set of animated puppets on a screen. The emergence of this virtual group was incredible, especially for young people.
In their shows, in music videos and in many other appearances, the protagonists were not human, and this became surprising and increased their success even further. Behind, being mainly responsible for the project are Damon Albarn, the real vocalist, and Jamie Hewlett, who does the illustrations.
Characters and the current moment of the band
2-D, who is a vocalist and pianist, Murdoc Niccals, bassist, Noodle, guitarist, and Russell Hobbs, the band's drummer. And so Gorillaz is formed, with so many animated beings that they even have a story that tells the origin of each of them. But, just like other people, they also went through difficulties, remaining at a standstill for almost seven years. They only returned to activity in 2017. Since then, the group has announced two albums: The Humansin 2017 and, now, The Song Machines. Furthermore, in 2018, the group announced Ace Gangrena, a character from The Powerpuff Girls as the group's new bassist.
