''We wanted to give you an update on our beloved husband, father and friend as we now have a deeper understanding of what he is going through. Since we announced Bruce's aphasia diagnosis in the spring of 2022, Bruce's condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia. Unfortunately challenges with communication are just a symptom of the illness Bruce faces. Although this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis'', she wrote.

In the note shared in the publication, which was signed by the actor's daughters, they explain the seriousness of the disease and also thank them for the support, citing that Bruce would be happy to see that his case was giving voice to medical advances regarding the disease.

''FTD is a cruel disease that many of us hear about and it can strike anyone. For people under age 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because diagnosis can take years, FTD is much more prevalent than we know. Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope will change in the coming years (…) It means the world to see this feeling of care echoed back to him and to all of us. We have been so touched by the love you all shared for our dear husband, father and friend during this difficult time. Your continued compassion, understanding and respect will allow us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible.''ends.
