Investigations against José Dumont for child abuse case are resumed

Last Thursday (15) global actor José Dumont was arrested in flagrante delicto for possession of child pornography, the actor is also being investigated for the crime of sexual abuse against two boys aged 8 and 14, according to the newspaper O Globo, the crime would have occurred in 2009 in the municipality of Cabedelo.

The investigation has been stalled since 2013, as the actor has not been located in Rio, nor in São Paulo, by letter rogatory, the complaint against José Dumont would have been made to the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), however, not enough evidence was found of the authorship of the crime, as the alleged victims were not located, which made the complaint unfeasible.

That year, the actor was caught by police officers from the child and adolescent victim police station (DCAV), with around 240 files containing child pornographic material. During his testimony, José Dumont acknowledged possession of the material, but stated that it was a “study”, for future work on the subject, without “taboos or filters”.

In addition, the police also found in the actor's house a bank receipt for a deposit made to one of the victims of sexual abuse, in the amount of R$1,000. According to information obtained during the investigation, the actor had taken advantage of the financial condition of the family of a 12-year-old boy, to sexually abuse him in exchange for money.

The actor who was cast in the soap opera “Todas as flores”, which will be shown on the Globoplay streaming service, was cut from the plot by the broadcaster after the case came to light.

José Dumont had already recorded 20 chapters of the soap opera, before his crimes became public knowledge, now the broadcaster is racing against time, to re-record the scenes of the soap opera, which is scheduled to premiere on October 17th.

Jackson Antunes, the actor chosen to replace him, will begin filming on the 24th. Antunes had already been considered to play the character Galo in the plot, even before José Dumont was hired.

In the soap opera, Galo will have an affair with the villain Zoé, played by veteran Regina Casé and will be a criminal involved in human trafficking.
