Bradley Cooper opens up about cocaine addiction: “I was so lost”

Bradley Cooper, 47, has shared details about how he struggled with a cocaine addiction early in his career. Famous for films such as 'The Hangover' and 'Silver Linings Playbook', he opened up in an interview with the podcast 'Smartless', hosted by actors Sean Hayes, Jason Bateman and Will Arnett. The actor explained that he started using the drug when he was acting in the third season of the series 'Alias', where his role was downgraded from lead to guest appearances.

The artist spoke about the loneliness he felt and how even though he moved to another state, he could not feel part of the artistic class.. “I was so lost and addicted to cocaine. I severed my Achilles tendon right after I got fired from Alias,” he started. “I was lucky that it happened when I was 29. But I didn't feel like I belonged, even moving to L.A. for 'Alias.' I felt like I was back in high school. I couldn't get into any clubs, no girl would look at me. I was totally depressed,” said.

The actor recalled that his life began to change when he landed a leading role in the film 'Wedding Crashers' in 2005. But it was his performance in 'The Hangover!' that put him on the list of great Hollywood actors.. “Actually,[my fame]didn’t come until ‘The Hangover.’ I was 36 when I made the movie, so I had to go through all of that stuff before fame even entered my life on a daily level. So all of that happened before.”he said.

The film stars Justin Bartha, Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis. The plot revolves around four friends who drive to Las Vegas for a bachelor party, but when they wake up the next day, they discover that the fourth member, who is also the groom, has disappeared. With absolutely no memory of anything, they embark on a crazy adventure in order to reconstruct the previous night, rescue their friend and get him to the altar in time.
