Jão sings Taylor Swift's classic during a concert in São Paulo

In his fifth performance at Espaço Unimed (formerly Espaço das Américas) in São Paulo, singer Jão brought a different repertoire to his show. Currently on tour “Pirate”which has already visited several places, this weekend the singer took advantage of the space's maximum capacity to pay homage to one of his references in the musical world: singer Taylor Swift.

Jão brought to the audience a unique performance of the song “Love Story”, the first single from the album “Fearless” by Taylor, released in 2008. With approximately 8 thousand people present, the tribute sent fans into a frenzy, following the singer through each verse of the song.

The singer had recently revealed that he is inspired by Taylor Swift in his own compositions. “I have always written in a narrative way and I tell, more or less, my life on the records. Obviously I leave it in a much nicer way, because if you're going to talk about your life as it is…boring. It’s obvious that there is a creation of a universe (…) I think narrative is a very powerful thing”said the singer in an interview with the Podpah program.

He even compared the similarity of his fans to those of Taylor Swift and Harry Styles. “I realize that there is a very close congruence between my fans and her fans, of Harry Styles, of people abroad too. They are very similar fans, they like the same things.”said the singer from São Paulo.

Considered a national pop phenomenon, Jão sold out 28 performances out of 35 scheduled on the tour for his third album, titled “Pirate”. The series of shows that debuted on March 12th, in Rio de Janeiro, has since been a huge success among the public. Furthermore, the singer sold around 40,000 tickets in the five times he sold out Espaço Unimed, which holds 8,000 people (counting the last performance that took place this weekend).
