Rita Lee will receive Musical Excellence Award at the Latin Grammys

Singer Rita Lee will be honored at the Latin Grammy awards night for her contribution to music, with the Musical Excellence Award, as announced by the Latin Recording Academy, this Thursday (25). In addition to Rita, it was announced that Rosario Flores, Amanda Miguel, Myriam Hernández and Yordano will also receive the award. On the occasion, Manuel Abud, CEO of the Latin Recording Academy said: “The collective achievements of this extraordinary group of artists and their contributions to Latin music are immeasurable. It will be a great privilege to honor these legendary figures during Latin Grammy Week in Las Vegas.”.

Rita Lee Jones de Carvalho, known as Rita Lee, of North American and Italian descent, began her career with the band “Os Mutantes”, and in 1979, together with her life partner, Roberto de Carvalho, recorded her legendary LP “Rita Lee”, following a solid solo career filled with some successful and relentless hits.

During the 1980s, he contributed a series of radio hits that resulted in sold-out performances. The actress and writer also announced her retirement from the stage in 2012, and even so she participated in some shows in the following years.

Nominated for seven Latin Academy awards, the composer won the Best Portuguese Language Rock Album category for “3001”, released in 2001.

It is worth noting that the honor comes in a very special year for the activist. Rita won her fight against lung cancer in April, when she announced that the disease had gone into remission.

With the participation of singers Giulia Be, Agnes Nunes, Luisa Sonza, Paula lime It is Manu Gavassichosen to celebrate Rita's trajectory in versions of her hits, the award ceremony will feature the launch of the Brazilian version of the Acoustic Sessions program.

The Latin Grammy ceremony will be held on November 17th, in Las Vegas, in the United States.
