Presenter Marília Gabriela reveals the real reason for leaving television

Marília Gabriela worked hard in the television reporting sector until 2016, when she decided to retire and move to the European continent, to relax and enjoy life at the height of her age, 73 years old, in great shape and in good health.

She also did an interview on her son Theodoro Cochrane's channel about her reason for leaving the reporting field and living a relaxed life, commenting on whether she would go back on what she said and go back to work: “I couldn't take it anymore. I couldn't take it anymore. I kept repeating people, interviewees started repeating themselves over and over again, and it started losing its charm, its drive, its original strength. I spent many years doing (TV)”, continues explaining his situation regarding television at the time he was working and earning a lot: “I had a situation on Brazilian television that very few people realized, that I think never happened in the world: I worked on two open TV channels (TV Cultura and SBT) and on a closed TV channel (GNT). Three completely different channels. And I did all three. I always dedicated myself to this, first of all because I wanted to fulfill myself in something; secondly, it was to raise you two (Theo and Cristiano) in the best way I could.”

Continuing with: “I got tired! One day I was there at SBT and I stopped and saw myself asking such a stupid, idiotic question to one of my interviewees… I left there and said: 'I don't want to do it anymore'. Because I was repeating myself so much that I no longer had any attachment to my work.” Talking about how difficult it was to reconcile being a mother and working at that time, her son asks the last question: “I spent a lot of time (on TV). I talked about your childhood, that I left you and Cristiano. I devoted myself to my profession my whole life as if I were running away from something, this is something I'm thinking about here, in life, in silence, alone,” leaving a very plausible answer to his question.

She has currently been living in Portugal since the end of 2021 to enjoy her retirement and ends the interview: “This is the place where I hope to be able to write something that I will discover within myself, that has to do with my childhood, with my mother” with a more thoughtful vision for herself, that is, thinking about returning to television, that option is currently out of the question, just living life is fine.
