Arena do Grêmio undergoes cleaning inside after climate catastrophe floods it

The Arena do Grêmio began to undergo the cleaning process by the administrative team of the stadium, which is located in one of the regions affected by the climate catastrophe that hit, all of Porto Alegre and a large part of Rio Grande do Sul in May.

Damage

The cleaning teams at Arena do Grêmio are having a lot of work to start making the stadium, which had large areas submerged during the floods caused by the climate catastrophe that terrorized Rio Grande do Sul, mainly Porto Alegre, into a familiar place again.

The first places visited by the Arena do Grêmio cleaning team were the locker room, the laundry room and the auditorium where the interviews are conducted.

In images taken from a video produced by the administration of the Porto Alegre stadium, it is possible to see a scenario of chaos, completely catastrophic, which is just a sample of what the climate catastrophe has caused in the region and could cause in the future.

The comeback

The work will be long and hard, especially when it comes to bringing safety and the feeling of a traditional and familiar place back to the public who have already attended Arena do Grêmio.

Therefore, there is no set deadline for the stadium to be revisited by the Grêmio team or its public. However, the intention is for the Gaucho team to be able to play their matches at the stadium, but the current forecast is that the cleaning and restoration of Arena do Grêmio should last until the end of 2024.
