Bia Souza, individual Olympic gold medalist for Brazil on Friday, won another medal this Saturday (3), at the Olympics in Paris, this time she won a bronze in the team category, both achievements occurred during a period of just 24 hours.

The Brazilian fought eight times and won seven matches, four of which were in the individual category, where she won gold in the final against Israel's Raz Hershko, and was victorious in three fights in the team category.

Her only defeat was in the match against Serbian judoka Milica Žabić, in the duel between teams, even though she lost, her result did not compromise the classification of the Brazilian team, which won 4-1 on the overall scoreboard and qualified to face Italy in the dispute for the bronze medal, where Bia was crucial and defeated the Italian Asya Tavano. Brazil then decided the dispute in the end with Rafaela Silva, who won against Veronica Toniolo, after a review by the refereeing that considered it a waza-ari and decreed the Brazilian victory.

Bia Souza's resistance

Bia spoke a little about the difficulties she faced in enduring all these struggles: “I was tired, I didn’t have much time to recover. My knee hurts. The team competition is very emotional, it’s crazy, there are lots of ups and downs, it’s a surreal energy, feeling everyone’s dedication”, commented the athlete emotionally.

It is worth mentioning that if there were any problems with Beatriz, she would have no one to replace her, the only one who could come in would be Mayra Aguiar, three-time world judo champion, however she stated that she would not be able to fight in the team rounds of the event.
