Espresso Lips is the makeup trend on social media

Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Espresso” has reached number one on Spotify globally. The song has also reached number one in Germany, the United States, Brazil and Chile. The pop single has also made its mark on social media, especially with a new makeup trend: Espresso Lips. Many people are sharing on social media how they replicate this trend.

The main trend of this trend is to outline the lips with a brown lip pencil. To fill in this outline, you can use a lipstick of the same color or in a different shade. The final touch is a gloss, giving a more shiny effect. The lipstick does not necessarily have to be matte. You can also fill in your lips using a lipstick with a gloss effect or even a brown-toned gloss.

Old trend

Although Espresso Lips has gained more notoriety recently, this lipstick has been around for a while now. Last year, Rhode – Hailey Bieber’s brand – launched the Peptide Lip Tint line, where one of the shades includes a brown, very similar to the color of coffee (hence the name “Espresso Lips”).

However, before that, many makeup artists were already doing this type of makeup, using a lip contour and filling it in with gloss. However, this way of doing the lips was often done with a red or pink contour and the filling was done with a lipstick in the person's skin tone. What makes Espresso Lips different is precisely the brown tones used on the lips.

You can also enhance your beauty look by using eyeshadow or eyeliner in the same shade as your lips. Brown is a classic color for makeup that goes with any occasion.
