Selena Gomez says she experienced an episode of psychosis in an interview

Selena revealed that she has been to 4 rehabilitation centers, it all started in her early twenties, “I have been to four treatment centers. I think when I got into my early twenties that's when it started to get really dark, when I started to feel like I wasn't in control of what I was feeling, whether everything was really good or really bad.”

The singer described how she felt during depressive times, her closest friends tried to help her, but she couldn't move in her own bed, “It started with depression, then went to isolation. Then I couldn't move from the bed. I didn't want anyone to talk to me. My friends brought me food because they loved me, but none of us knew what it was. Sometimes I would spend weeks in bed, even walking down the stairs would leave me breathless. I thought the world would be better if I wasn’t here.”she, however, never tried to go against her own life.

Selena shared in the interview about the episode of psychosis she experienced in 2018, her friends didn't recognize her and during the time she was hospitalized she couldn't trust anyone, as she was immersed in paranoia that they wanted to get her. She also said that her mother only found out about what happened through the tabloids. After the incident, the artist was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and only then did she and her friends understand everything that had been happening.

The former Disney star commented that a few things contributed to her reaching this point, one of them being when she struggled to break away from the children's company and develop an authentic voice while growing up with her fans. Selena also said that because she didn't fit in with the popular girl groups, she only had Taylor Swift as a friend in the music industry, and because of that she felt out of place.
