Taylor Swift dominates awards at the 2022 MTV EMA and Anitta wins the Latin category

On Sunday night (13), the grand awards ceremony of the MTV EMA 2022 took place, with singer Taylor Swift being the star of the night, winning four awards. Another highlight was Brazilian singer Anitta, who beat Shakira and Rosalia by winning in the category of “Best Latin Artist”. The ceremony was hosted by the couple Rita Ora and Taika Waititi and took place in Dusseldorf, Germany, and was full of performances.

The American singer reaffirmed her success and was the most victorious of the night, Taylor Swift won four categories, namely: “Best Artist”, “Best Pop Artist”, “Best Video” and “Best Long Form Video” for the clip “All Too Well” (10 Minute Version).

The artist, in her speech when she received the “Best Artist” award, praised the other competitors and made a point of thanking the public: “First of all, I just want to say that I have so much respect and admiration for my fellow nominees. I wanted to tell the fans that I had an album out recently called 'Midnights,' and I am so impressed. You have no idea how much it means to me to do this as a career,” the singer said.

When it came to receiving the “Best Long Form Video” awardTaylor explained the fact that the video for “All Too Well” almost didn't happen: “You know, sometimes I think about all the ways this short film and this moment almost never happened (…) There are so many ways this almost never happened. You know the earliest version of this song was released 10 years ago, it was never a single. It was never meant to have a video, let alone a short film.”. She ended by thanking Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brienn. “Besides, this would never have happened without Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien, I will forever say”. Completed.

Brazil with representatives

Brazilian singers Manu Gavassi and Anitta also emerged victorious at the ceremony. The former won in the category of “Best Brazilian Artist”, where she competed with Anitta herself, as well as Xamã, Gloria Groove and L7nnon. It was the second year in a row that Gavassi won the category, and she thanked her fans since the vote is popular. “I can’t believe we won again. This means that you are incredible, that you respect me, no matter what phase I’m in or what I want to create artistically. I feel at my freest and happiest with what I do. So, thank you very much for this gift, for this hug that you gave me again.”. Said the singer.

Anitta won the “Best Latin Artist” category, competing against Latin music giants such as Rosalía and Bad Bunny, as well as Becky G, J Balvin and Shakira. The Brazilian continues to break records.
