In addition to breaking records for specific albums, Taylor Swift doesn't stop there. In August of this year (2023), for example, Taylor broke the record – and parameters – by becoming the first female artist to have 100 million monthly listeners. At the time, the platform declared that Taylor was behind only The Weeknd, a male artist, who has around 110 million monthly listeners.

Speak Now (Taylor's Version)

Earlier this year, Taylor Swift released her re-release of her own album, Speak Now, one of her first career albums. The album featured 22 tracks, six of which were previously unreleased, as well as guest appearances by Fall Out Boy and Hayley Williams on the tracks “Electric Touch” and “Castles Crumbling”, respectively.

The reason for “Taylor's Version”

After all, what is “Taylor's Version” and why? Because of fights with the record label, “Taylor's Version” came about, bringing with it the re-recording of Taylor Swift's albums that were released while she was still with the record label “Big Machine Records”, where she signed a 13-year contract when she was still a teenager.

Taylor remained through the years 2006 and 2017, releasing several songs through the label, including the albums “Taylor Swift” (2006), “Fearless” (2008), “Speak Now” (2010), “Red” (20120, “1989” (2014) and “Reputation” (2017.

As soon as her contract ended, the artist offered to buy the masters of her songs, that is, the recording of all six albums. However, instead of proposing the sale only to Taylor, “Big Machine Records” also sold the rights to Scooter Braun, a businessman known for the careers of Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber.

In order to acquire the rights to the catalog, Taylor Swift decided to re-record the albums, adding “Taylor's Version” to the title and in her name, showing that the albums now belong to her, which, for fans, may have been even better.
