JD Vance is Trump's pick for US vice president

The candidate for vice president of the United States for the elections on November 5 was announced at the Republican Convention on Monday (15). Senator JD Vance is Donald Trump's choice for the Republican Party at the convention held in New York.

On his social media, Trump said: “After long deliberation and reflection, and considering the enormous talents of many others, I have decided that the most suitable person to assume the office of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio.“.

Author of a bestselling book

JD Vance is a lawyer who also studied political science and philosophy at Ohio State University. He was born in Miriam Town, Ohio, to a white working-class family, most of whom are of Scottish-Irish descent. He served in the US Marine Corps and also served in Iraq before attending college.

New to politics, he is in his first term as a senator. He is 39 years old and became an important figure after writing a best-selling book, called Energia Caipira, which was later turned into a film “Once Upon a Dream”, which was shown on Netflix in 2020.

With D Vance, he surpasses other names that were considered such as Senator Marco Rubio from the State of Florida and Senator Doug Burger from North Dakota.

He was a critic and now he is an ally

JD Vance was a critic of Trump in 2016, and on one occasion he was publicly humiliated by Trump, and years after the incident the former president endorsed JD Vance's Senate candidacy, and today he is seen as an ally of Trump.

At the convention, as predicted, more than half of the 2,400 delegates chose Donald Trump, who will face his opponent in the electoral race, the current US President Joe Biden, and will continue to be Kamala Harris as his vice president.
