In addition, seven Brazilians were awarded in the pre-ceremony. Highlights included Ludmilla and Liniker, who won their first Grammys in the 'Best Samba/Pagode Album' and 'Best Brazilian Popular Music Album' categories with “Numanice #2” by Ludmilla and “Indigo Borboleta Anil” by Liniker, respectively. “I'm reaching places I never imagined, even though I don't speak Spanish or any other language. I'm being respected for my roots and my essence. There's no price or prize that can pay for that.”. Ludmilla said in a post after the ceremony celebrating the achievements, she was also responsible for the award in the 'Urban Music Album' category, won by singer Bad Bunny.

Another name that caught a lot of attention was Ángela Álvarez, who at 95 years old won as 'Best New Artist', tying with singer Silvana Estrada and still being the oldest artist nominated in this category. Born in Cuba, she left the capital Havana in 1962, shortly after the Cuban Revolution and when she was a child her father did not let her sing, despite this her late husband always encouraged her to write her songs. The first album featuring her songs written over decades was produced by Álvarez's grandson, and in her victory speech she made a point of encouraging people not to give up on their dreams. “For those who have not achieved their dream, although life is difficult, there is always a way out and with faith and love you can achieve it, I promise you (…) It is never too late.” Ángela Álvarez's story is being told in a documentary titled “Miss Ángela”.
