Botafogo seeks new coach after Tite’s refusal; Bruno Lage is an option

Botafogo is looking for its new coach after the end of the soap opera between Portuguese Luís Castro and Al-Nassr. The latest information is that the Rio de Janeiro team made inquiries for Tite, who has been without a club since he left the Brazilian team after the end of the World Cup in Qatar. Another option for Botafogo is the Portuguese coach Bruno Lage.

The poll for Tite came from a part of the club, which believes that a former Brazilian national team coach is the most reliable option to take over the club in the middle of the season. However, Tite is not interested at the moment in coaching national teams after being in charge of Brazil for more than six years. According to “Canal do TF”, specialized in coverage of Botafogo, Tite has his attention focused on Europe.

With a possible negative from Tite, Botafogo once again reinforces its attention to coach Bruno Lage, who had as his last job the command of the English club Wolverhampton. John Textor, owner of the SAF that owns Botafogo, has already had conversations with the Portuguese coach to present the club’s project.

Despite Botafogo fans being taken by surprise with Al-Nassr’s offer for the club’s then coach Luís Castro, the club tries to maintain tranquility on and off the field in order to continue the good work done this season. The board is confident that the coach who arrives at the club has full conditions to maintain good football. At the moment Botafogo is the isolated leader of the Brazilian Championship, with 30 points scored.

Botafogo’s next challenge is this Sunday (02) in a classic against Vasco in a game valid for the 13th round of the Brasileirão, and will have Cláudio Caçapa as interim coach.
