Fantastic Four wins Josh Friedman's Script!

The Marvel universe has been updating its ideas and for the new feature film Fantastic Four, the producer decided to choose Josh Friedman (Avatar: The Way of Water, Terminator: Dark Fate) as the new screenwriter.

Previously, the names considered for the position were Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, but without many details about the reason for the change, the producer decided to go with Friedman to continue with the film, so far there is no information on what the new plot will be like. The film will be directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision).

Josh has extensive experience with the world of fiction and has already made successful feature films such as Worlds War (2005), War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) and Avatar: The Path of Water. In addition to these successes, Friedman will be responsible for the next Avatar sequels that will be released in 2024, 2026 and 2028.

The screenwriter has not only worked in cinema, but also on television as Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008-2009), Emerald City (2017), Snowpiercer (2020) and Foundation (2021).

It is worth considering that the previous duo Jeff and Ian had more experience in comedies, so the change of screenwriter means the new feature film may be heading towards more serious science fiction.

So far no protagonist has been confirmed, however in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) at Phase 4, John Krasinski (A Quiet Place) appeared as scientist Reed Richards, known as Mister Fantastic. In Doctor Strange, Mister Fantastic appeared in Earth-838 being a member of Illuminati.

The Fantastic Four feature film was scheduled to be released in 2024, but due to the advancement of some films in the MCU calendar, recordings only began to be shot at the beginning of 2024, causing the film's release to be extended to the beginning of 2025. The theatrical release is scheduled for February 14th.
