Kendrick Lamar's “Humble” reaches 2 billion streams on Spotify

The song “Humble”, by singer and songwriter Kendrick Lamar, reached the mark of 2 billion streams on Spotify this Monday morning (23). Released in 2017, a single from his album “Damn”, the song has now become the rapper's most listened to song. According to the singer himself, “Humble” is about his ego, in which the rapper sings about women, money and fame.

On YouTube, “Humble” is close to reaching one billion, with around 934 million views.

“Damn”

The song is part of the album “Damn”, Kendrick Lamar's fourth studio album, released on April 14, 2017 by producers Top Dawg Entertainment, Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records. With a mix of hip hop, jazz and rap, as well as lyrics ranging from racial themes to religious references and melancholy, “Damn” was acclaimed by critics and was a huge success with the public.

“Humble” received a 95/100 from Metacritic, in addition to winning the Grammy in 2018 for Best Rap Album and the Pulitzer Prize for music. With the public, the album was a success, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200, with more than 353 thousand copies sold and 340.6 million media streams. “Damn” became the second biggest debut on Billboard that year, behind only Taylor Swift's album “Reputation”.

Furthermore, three songs from the album managed to reach the billion plays mark on Spotify, namely “Humble”, “DNA” and “LOVE feat. ZACARI”.
