dangerous sea

Yesterday (29), the sea was rough and dangerous with huge waves. Filipe Toledo had a tense dispute with the Japanese Inaba, both had their boards broken in half during the competition and had to be rescued by jet-skis, in fact, one of the jet-skis that rescued Filipe ran aground in the shallowest part of the sea, forcing the surfer to get off and wait for another jet-ski to rescue him. Even with big waves, Filipe made bad choices and was unable to find the ideal wave. At the end of the heat, Filipe finished with 2.46 and Inaba with 6.00, advancing to the next phase.

After the defeat, Filipe spoke a little about his performance and said that his mistake was indecision: “I think I was a bit lost when choosing a wave. I was undecided about which one would be good. There were two good waves at the beginning that I let pass me by. They were smaller waves, but they had the potential to win the heat. But that’s it. Surfing is like that. One day we’re up there and the next we end up not catching a wave.”
