The exciting adventure of Turma da Mônica in the interior of São Paulo!

After “Monica's Gang: Ties“, “Turma da Mônica: Lessons“and the series”Monica's Gang: The Series“, the new film from the maurícioverse”Chico Bento and the Maraviósa Goiabeira” is already being recorded. The feature film is being produced in the interior of São Paulo, in the municipalities of Itatiba and Bragança Paulista. The plot, which will take place in the fictional city of Vila Abobrinha, will tell the story of Chico Bento and his gang, who will work together to save the Nhô Lau guava tree.

The live-action of the comics has been awaited by fans since the release of “Turma da Mônica: Lições”, when our favorite hillbilly appeared in the post-credits scenes of the 2021 film.

In an official statement, Fernando Fraiha, director and screenwriter of the project, declared that: “We delve into the world of Mauricio de Sousa once again, now to bring Chico Bento’s universe to the cinema. It's a fantastic and funny world inspired by thousands of Chico's comics. With an exceptionally talented and committed team, we will make a deeply rural film. I can barely contain my excitement to share this adventure with the public.”

The film's cast will include child influencer Isaac Amendoim, a success on the TikTok app, as caipirinha Chico Bento. Chico's gang will be played by Pedro Dantas as Zé Lelé, Anna Julia Dias as Rosinha, Lorena de Oliveira as Tábata, Davi Okabe as Hiro and Guilherme Tavares as Zé da Roça. In addition to Fernando Fraiha, the script will also be written by Elena Altheman and Raul Checker.

During his panel at Comic Con Brasil 2022, the author of the comics, Maurício de Sousa, informed that “Chico Bento e a Goiabeira Maraviósa” does not yet have a confirmed release date, but its release is scheduled for next year.
