Women Win in the Adapted Screenplay

The great day has come! Today (12) the 95th ceremony of the most important awards ceremony in the cinematic universe, the Oscars, is taking place. The event is being broadcast directly from the Dolby Theater, Los Angeles, in the United States. There are, in total, 23 categories that encompass feature films, shorts, animations and documentaries, in addition to honoring actresses, actors and directors.

“Entre Mulheres” won the Best Adapted Screenplay category. The film addresses the decision-making process of a group of women abused and drugged for years by men in a small religious colony. When accepting the award, screenwriter Sarah Polley cited a phrase from the film to reaffirm her desire for change:

“The last sentence of the film is spoken by a young girl to a baby: 'Your story will be different from ours.' It's a promise and a commitment”
