Brazilians arrested after having their bags changed claim infection from collective prison clothing

The case of Brazilian women arrested in Germany after having their suitcases exchanged in Brazil has gained yet another chapter. This time, the two allege that the collective use clothes of the prison resulted in bacterial infection in the skins of both.

Goianas Kátyna Baía and Jeanne Paollini drew the attention of the country after being victims of a coup that resulted in the arrest of both. The scam took place while they were boarding for Germany, and had their bags exchanged for others that had drugs inside. The two were jailed for 38 days on charges of international drug trafficking.

“We came back with a bacterial infection (…) it was due to the collective use of clothes and panties. (YES, IT WAS ALL FOR COLLECTIVE USE) One more problem with that arbitrary and unfair arrest. BUT WE WILL OVERCOME”

In a Federal Police video, Kátyna also reported on the passage through the German prison.

“We were arrested very unfairly, poorly received, mistreated by the German police, wronged, paying for 38 days for a crime that does not belong to us”

Jeanne Paollini declared:

“We would like to say thank you here to everyone involved, who worked together to send all the evidence to the German police, to the German government. We know that sending these videos was fundamental to our freedom. Without them, we would probably pay for a crime we didn’t commit.”

Kátyna and Jeanne arrived in Brazil on April 14th.

According to investigations, the suitcases of the two were dispatched at the airport in Goiana, but had their labels changed during the passage through the airport in Guarulhos, São Paulo, by outsourced employees of the airport itself. They were arrested in Frankfurt, the last stop before their destination in Berlin, each suitcase containing 20kg of cocaine.
