Buma and Stemra Music Investment Fund – From Monday 26 July 2021, Dutch composers, lyricists and music publishers can apply again to the Music Investment Fund.
The fund is an initiative of Buma/Stemra with the cooperation of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and is intended for the development of new music and/or new exploitation of existing music. In the autumn of 2020 it was already possible to apply, 663 work contributions were awarded.
Shortly after the start of the corona crisis, Buma/Stemra set aside € 2,750,000 to support music professionals with the Emergency Fund Music launched at the beginning of May 2020. Shortly afterwards, as part of the additional funds for the cultural sector, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science released € 5,000,000 for the ‘Rights Sector Support Fund’, an initiative of the Copyright Interests Federation. Of this, € 2,475,000 was available for the Music Investment Fund.
€ 2,337,500 is available for this second round. This amount is distributed by Buma/Stemra in the form of work contributions to Dutch composers, lyricists and music publishers.

Bernard Kobes, supervisor of the Buma/Stemra Board of Directors: “The first round of the Music Investment Fund has been very well used. The fund was over-questioned even shortly after it opened. That shows how high the need was and he still is. We are therefore very grateful that the Minister is contributing again. Beautiful things have emerged from the first round of the Music Investment Fund. We look forward to the following creations and initiatives.”
More information about the Investment Fund Music 2 can be found here. Applications can be submitted from 26 July 2021.
