game icon Sonic – Yuji Naka, co-creator of the famous game character Sonic the Hedgehog, has been arrested. That reports the Japanese news medium Fuji News Network Friday. The designer is suspected of having bought shares in a game development company with inside information.

The case revolves around Taisuke Sazaki, a former employee of game developer Square Enix.

He received information at the end of 2019 that the mobile game Dragon Quest Tact would be made jointly by Square Enix and Aiming.

Sazaki and another former Square Enix employee are said to have bought 162,000 shares in Aiming prior to the public announcement of the partnership. Naka was also reportedly aware of the collaboration. Before it was announced in early 2020, he bought ten thousand shares in Aiming.

Naka worked with Square Enix on the game Balan Wonderworld between 2018 and 2021. All three men have now been arrested on charges of insider trading.
