Lorde Reveals 2022 Release Date for Solar Power and Turn

After releasing her first comeback single and title track from her new album, “Solar Power”, on June 10, alternative diva Lorde announced the release date of her third studio album and a world tour in 2022. “Solar Power” will take place on August 20, while her tour will kick off on February 26, 2022, with tickets going on sale to the public from June 25. Lorde's 2022 tour will be promoted by AEG Presents in the United States and Canada, and marks her first North American tour since 2018.

“The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt to immortalize the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I'm outdoors.”, wrote singer Lorde in the artist’s fan newsletter and also in a press release. “In times of distress, sadness, deep love or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I have learned to breathe out and tune in. This is what happened.”, Lorde added. “I want this album to be your summer companion, the one you listen to on your way to the beach. The one that stays on your skin like a tan as the months cool down again.”, declared the singer.

The physical CD of “Solar Power” will be released in an alternative, eco-conscious discless CD version called “Music Box”, designed to minimize the carbon footprint of the new album.

Each of these “Music Box“will include additional visual content, handwritten notes, exclusive photos and a download card, and this card will allow fans who purchased the alternative physical CD version to access the album, plus two exclusive bonus tracks and others”special surprises” to be announced soon.

“I decided early in the process of creating this project that I also wanted to create an environmentally friendly and forward-thinking alternative to the physical CD.”, claimed the diva. “I wanted this product called the 'Music Box' to be similar in size, shape and price to a physical CD, so that it could live alongside you in a retail environment, but be something that stood out and was committed to the evolving nature of a modern album.”, explained the singer.

Lorde's previous album, “Melodrama“, released on June 16, 2017, which was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2018 Grammy Awards, has sold a total of 975,000 equivalent album units to date, with 248,000 in pure album sales, according to MRC Data. Just like the “Melodrama“, “Solar Power” was produced by Jack Antonoff. Lorde's new work features 12 tracks that were also announced by the artist.

Lorde shares updates on new music since album release “Melodrama“, on June 16, 2017. At the end of 2019, the artist explained the reason for her break from her work, which was due to the death of her dog Pearl. “I need some time to see what's good again, so I can finish this project for you guys.”, the diva vented. In the spring of 2020, Lorde told fans that she was working with Jack Antonoff and claimed that her new work is very good.
