Rafa Kalimann opens up about her health after contracting malaria

Rafa Kalimann (29) reassured her fans, via Twitter, about her health status, after contracting a serious illness – malaria – in Mozambique, Africa. “I'm fine, returning home,” she said. The multifaceted artist – actress, presenter, model, influencer and former reality show participant – returned to Brazil on Wednesday night (13), in São Paulo, at Guarulhos International Airport.

Missionary Kalimann had not visited the African continent for three years due to the pandemic and had high expectations for her return “Finally, another year here in Mozambique. It’s been almost 10 years of humanitarian work by the NGO Missão África and so many stories that I could share with you for several days. (…) Every year, we fight to ensure the best donations for people living in regions of extreme poverty, trying to guarantee fairer social conditions.“, declares. The actress used social media to share a moment with a child, named Rafa, in her honor. “I couldn't contain my emotions. Not only because of the name, but because I saw in it the result of the seed we've been planting over the years. Rafa was born after the last time I came and, just like her, the community of Lamego is growing strong and with a hopeful outlook, which also feeds us. Seeing her gave me more encouragement and determination to continue persisting in this work.“. However, not everything is rosy: After feeling very nauseous and being medicated, the content creator received the fateful diagnosis of malaria. Then, Rafa had to stop volunteering in a hurry and return to Brazil early to continue treatment.

About malaria:

This is a disease with a high lethal rate and its vector is the Anopheles mosquito. It is also known as tertian fever, as one of the most common symptoms is the appearance of a fever every three days.
