Burberry is looking for a new chairman

According to Sky News, Burberry is looking for someone to fill the shoes of Gerry Murphy, the current president of the British brand. Murphy was fired last week, according to the report, and now Burberry is working with Headhunters to replace Murphy. Also last week, Jonathan Akeroyd stepped down as CEO and Joshua Schulman replaced him.

Burberry sees sales decline

Jonathan Akeroyd, former CEO of Burberry, was responsible for hiring Daniel Lee as the brand's creative director in 2023. At the time, the announcement of Daniel Lee's contract generated great expectations in the market. Lee managed to bring back and translate the brand's essence, however, this was not enough for Burberry to reposition itself as one of the biggest luxury brands. In the last half of the year, Burberry's sales fell by 22%.

The hiring of Joshua Schulman was a strategy that the brand used to try to reverse the drop in sales in the last semester. “I am delighted that Josh will join Burberry as our new CEO.
