Accident kills 5 people from the same family, including a 5-month-old pregnant woman

In the northern region of the state of Goiás, in Mara Rosa, an accident occurred this Wednesday (5) at 10 am at km 138 of BR-153, causing the death of five people belonging to the same family, including a 5-month-old pregnant woman , in addition to the driver who was injured on the highway. The vehicle integrated by the victims was completely destroyed after having left the lane where it was traveling. The information was passed through the PRF (Federal Highway Police).

At the accident site, a 28-year-old man and three women aged 30, 27 and 69 ended up dying, according to the PRF. A two-year-old child and the 26-year-old driver were seriously injured, and were therefore taken to a hospital located in Uruaçu, but the child died.

The names of the victims, revealed by the Scientific Police, are listed below:

• Ana Maria do Carmo Soares Santos, 69 years old;
• Ana Flávia Santos Lima, 30 years old, mother of the boy who died in the hospital and 5 months pregnant;
• Lucas Santos Lima, 28 years old;
• Isabel Santos Lima Oliveira, 27 years old;

So far, the driver’s name has not been released.

Still as said by the Federal Highway Police, the family was going from Goiânia to Gurupi, in Tocantins. The driver left the track and ended up overturning the car, after losing control of the vehicle’s direction, which knocked down trees on the way when it fell down the cliff.

It should be noted that the police detailed that all passengers, including the driver of the car, a 7-seater Chevrolet SPIN, were wearing seat belts at the time of the unfortunate accident.

The lane in question did not need to be closed, according to the Ecovias do Araguaia Team, the road concessionaire.
