Activision Blizzard – A group of American gamers has gone to court. They want to prevent Microsoft game developer Activision Blizzard, known from the game series Call of Duty, take over.
The gamers state in their indictment that Microsoft with the acquisition “enormous power in the computer games sector” gets. With that, Microsoft could also hinder competitors.

In the indictment, the gamers say they are afraid that Microsoft could limit the amount of games that come out. They also fear that the freedom of choice of consumers may be limited by the takeover.
Microsoft itself is a big name in the gaming world. The company makes Xbox game consoles and also develops many games itself. Microsoft has 69 billion dollars (almost 65 billion euros) left for Activision Blizzar.
The planned acquisition already earned the company criticism from competitor Sony. The PlayStation maker is afraid that games from Activision Blizzard will soon only be played on the Xbox.
Regulators are also concerned about the acquisition. The American competition watchdog FTC started a case earlier this month to prevent the merger. In addition to the American authorities, Europe is also looking at whether the takeover is acceptable.
