Chicago authorities released a video on Thursday of a police officer shooting a 13-year-old boy. The mayor of the state calls it “excruciating” images.
13-year-old Adam Toledo was shot dead at around 2:30 am on March 29.

The cop’s bodycam footage shows him chasing Toledo and ordering him to stop and show his hands. Then he shoots him just as the boy has stopped and puts his hands in the air. Not much later, the teenager dies of his injuries.
The prosecution says Toledo was armed, but the video shows no weapon in his hands.
‘UNBEARABLE’
During a press conference on Thursday, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot called the footage “unbearable”. She also called on residents to remain calm at a time when tensions surrounding police violence are running high.
“Whether Adam was a choirboy or engaged in some improper activity, the fact is that he walked down the street and was shot. Although he was not armed, ”said Adeen Weiss-Ortiz, the Toledo family’s lawyer.
