Brazil records more than 700 deaths in 2024
Brazil has reached a worrying milestone in the fight against dengue by recording more than 700 fatalities from the disease. According to information from the Ministry of Health, 715 deaths have been officially registered, while another 1,078 cases are being investigated for suspected links to dengue. The frightening increase in confirmed cases was highlighted by the ministry's Case Monitoring Panel on Thursday (21), when it revealed that the country had reached the alarming mark of 2 million confirmed cases of the disease.
However, in just one day, this number increased even more. In a recent update, it was noted that the incidence rate of dengue is increasing significantly and this trend suggests that the number of cases will continue to grow.

Minas Gerais leads in infections
The State of Minas Gerais is the epicenter of the epidemic, recording more than six hundred and ninety thousand infections to date. These cases have already resulted in 117 deaths, and 406 additional deaths are being investigated. Health authorities are on high alert to contain the spread of the disease and protect the population.
Dengue fever remains a significant challenge for the Brazilian healthcare system, requiring continuous prevention, diagnosis and treatment efforts. Public awareness and the elimination of breeding grounds for the transmitting mosquito are essential to reduce the impact of this serious disease.
Dengue prevention
While vaccination is not widely available, combating outbreaks of the transmitting mosquito, the Aedes aegypti, and individual precautions remain essential. Eliminate possible mosquito breeding sites that accumulate stagnant water. Furthermore, it is recommended to use repellents suitable for this mosquito.
The classic symptoms of dengue include high fever, headache, body pain, nausea and red spots on the skin. Worsening can lead to severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting and difficulty breathing. Avoid self-medication and if you present these symptoms, seek medical attention.
