A few years ago there were rumors that Capcom was working on a new main series Mega Man, but so far we haven’t seen anything about it. And now the company has reported that it is seeing the best way to approach new games in the franchise.
Capcom recently held its 44th General Shareholders’ Meeting, at which two shareholders asked about Mega Man. One asked about what’s next for the franchise in general, while another asked about ports and collections.
“Including Mega Man 11, the latest title in the franchise, Mega Man is one of Capcom’s historic IPs and is beloved by fans, and as such, we want to be careful about how we develop the series. We are evaluating how to approach the production of new titles in the series, which requires numerous factors, including the development of a solid concept, ideas and gameplay, etc.” told capcom.
Regarding collections and ports, the company responded: “We are considering our approach to ports of previous games, which includes addressing technical issues.”
According to Capcom’s internal data, the Mega Man series has sold over 38 million copies over its 36-year history.
