Due to a failure by the opposing goalkeeper, São Paulo beats Fluminense at Morumbis

São Paulo hosted Fluminense at Morumbis, this evening (13), in the sixth round of the Brazilian Championship. The teams have already faced each other 69 times in the competition, with São Paulo's best record: 31 wins against 21 for the Rio team and 17 draws.

The São Paulo team remains undefeated against Luis Zubeldía: 5 wins and 1 draw, today being Morumbis' first victory in the competition. The team lost to Fortaleza in the first round and drew 0-0 with Palmeiras in the fourth round.

First half ends in a draw

In an electrifying first half, São Paulo missed many scoring opportunities, with plays from Nestor, Juan, Luciano and Bobadilla. Midfielder Marquinhos, from Fluminense, moved a lot and reached every ball against the opponent. Following a failure by goalkeeper Rafael and an attempted goal by striker Keno, from Fluminense, the ball fell to full-back Igor Vinícius, from Tricolor Paulista, who ended up opening the scoring for the opposing team with an own goal.

The teams tried to score, but the goal only happened in the 37th minute, in a corner kick for São Paulo, the ball fell to Arboleda's left foot, who didn't waste the chance and shot into goalkeeper Fábio's left corner.

With tonight's victory, São Paulo moves up to 5th place in the table, while Fluminense remains 17th in the relegation zone, with 5 points so far.
