Earth and Passion: Characterization requires creativity and patience
Grace, character of Agatha Moreira also commitment of the characterization team. The actress came from work on “Verdades Secretas 2” with very short strands and now sports blonde and long strands.
“Graça is our little ‘agropop’ doll, we wanted to do something different in the character’s look. We opted for the megahair, but with natural hair in the same blonde tone that we created for the character. It was difficult to find, we need to bring the hair from the south of the country. The process lasted 10 hours just to bleach and treat the locks and another 16 hours to put on the megahair. And every three months this process will require maintenance,” says characterizer Gilvete Santos.
Another character that has a lengthy characterization process is Irene (Gloria Pires), which uses lace, a prosthesis made thread by thread on a microtule screen. In this case, the strands are placed one by one over the fabric, which allows for a more scalp-like effect.
“Lace means three hours in a chair, it’s having a lot of patience, a lot of discipline. Gloria is very happy with the result and so are we”, explains Gilvete.
While some characters carry a greater production in hair and makeup and will always be impeccable on stage, Aline, the protagonist of the story lived by Barbara Reishas the most natural look possible.
“For Aline, we opted for her hair as it really is. Every day in Mato Grosso do Sul, before Barbara went to sleep, I would go to her room and say: ‘let’s look at her hair’. Fitting is what we call hair as natural as possible, without using a hairdryer, I did that and mixed the cream that the actress herself uses. We also left the color darker, she had blonde ends in the previous work. And we keep the frizz that exists in most people. You look and say: ‘the character is a person from our everyday life’, she explains.
Susana Vieirawho returns to action in the skin of Cândida Ferreira, owner of the bar in the fictional city Nova Primavera, had to adhere to natural gray hair extensions.
According to the artist, the characterization was “in half”, and she intends to put more gray locks on her head: “I got this natural hair from a lady who didn’t want to sell me anymore. She only managed to sell the ones in front and that’s why I couldn’t put them all over my head”, he said. Susana Vieira.
“Maybe I’ll even look for other ladies who are gray to complement their hair and look like this, while I look pretty”, he joked.
