May Update Available – New Features

Starfield's latest update is now available, and boy does it bring a lot of cool stuff! We're talking new surface maps, difficulty options, ship customization, adjustments for Xbox Series X players, and much more!

New gameplay options

Bethesda decided to give you, the player, more power to change the game your way. Do you want to adjust merchant credits? He can! Want to access the ship's cargo anywhere? Can also! Now you can play around with new survival features and even adjust the difficulty of space and ground combat. And, for the masochists out there, we have the new Extreme difficulty, because “Very Difficult” wasn’t difficult enough.

Updated surface maps

The surface maps have finally been updated. Forget those boring spots, now we have land marks that make life easier. And, of course, new markers in big cities so you don't get lost like a noob, indicating the location of traders. And yes, you can teleport directly to these places using the reader or the surface map.

New ship interior customization tools

Improved display options for Xbox Series X

Xbox Series X players can now choose between prioritizing visual quality or performance. Want drop-dead gorgeous graphics? He has! Want butter-smooth performance? Also have! And if you have a TV with variable refresh rate (VRR), even better!

• Target frame rate: Choose between 30, 40, 60 or no limits. Without VRR, you're left with 30 or 60. But beware of screen tearing if you don't have VRR.
• Prioritization: Choose between prioritizing Graphics or Performance. Graphics = more resolution and details. Performance = less resolution, but more FPS.
• VSync: Leave it on or turn it off and see the magic of the tears on the screen. With it on, the frame rate is synchronized with that of the monitor, but without it… well, you get the idea.

New Game+ and attribute reset

Who doesn't love a New Game +, right? Now you can play Starfield again and again and again… And you can even change your character's appearance and attributes after joining Concordia. Come on, who has never wanted to try being a brute or a genius?

Quality of life improvements

The May update also brings quality of life improvements, like the option to turn the dialogue camera on or off, so you can watch cutscenes however you want. Additionally, new tabs in the Container and trades menus make navigation easier.
