LONDON – Several hundred Chelsea supporters have come forward to express their dissatisfaction with their club’s participation in the Super League. And not without effect, it seems. According to the BBC , Chelsea would prepare a procedure to withdraw from the Super League.

And it does not seem to be the only club where the directors are going to bow to the wishes of the fans. Manchester City’s plans to withdraw from the Super League would also be serious , according to The Sun, among others . Reports are coming in from Spain that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are no longer interested in this new adventure.

Chelsea will play Brighton & Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge at 9 p.m. Fans of The Blues blocked the usual entrance for the player buses on their way to the stadium. They alternate standing and sitting, always singing to sit or stand if they like football.

In the meantime they chant the slogan ‘f * ck Super League’ and hold up signs with texts like ‘Super greed’ and ‘We want our cold nights in Stoke’. Among others, Petr Cech, former goalkeeper and now technical advisor, tried to get the fans away. Ultimately, the kick-off was postponed by fifteen minutes.
