Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Horror Has Arrived

The 80s were that good time of bouffant hair, MUSIC VERY GOODneon and ridiculously wonderful horror films?

Well then, Killer Klowns from Outer Space not only brings back that nostalgia, but it also reminds us why we love these cheesy gems so much.

And look, this game wasn't on my radar, and I believe a lot of people didn't even see the clowns coming.

A Tour of the Circus of Terror

For fans of multiplayer games, Killer Klowns from Outer Space (which I affectionately nicknamed EVIL CUTE CLOWNS)does what many others have failed to do: balance the game, reduce time dead and adjust the duration of matches. You won't even notice time passing while playing, as everything is so fast!

Do you remember the classic 80s movie, Killer Klowns from Outer Space? No? Of course not, you were probably too busy watching The Goonies or playing Pac Man to care about this piece of cult history.

But now it's time to give the alien clowns who just want to turn Earth into one big horror circus a chance.

Welcome to Nostalgia

Developer Illfonic, responsible for bringing Friday the 13th to life, did a tremendous job of porting the look, feel, and story of the source material to the game. Together with Teravision Games, who also helped develop Texas Chain Saw Massacre, they have created a true playground of horrors.

Fans of the film will delight in the rare collectibles, Klown characters and expansive maps filled with Easter eggs that reference the film, such as the meeting point at the beginning or the police station.

The maps are so faithful to the film that you can almost smell it. old popcorn and peeling paint. It's as if someone got into a time machine, stole all the sets from 80s B-movies and dumped them here. And that's wonderful.

Gameplay: When 7 vs. 3 Makes Sense

Here is the biggest difference compared to other games in the genre: Killer Klowns from Outer Space it's 7 against 3 (ihhh here comes the uncle from the 80s making jokes, You thought I was going to speak against 1, right, you bastard?).

Yes, seven humans against three killer clowns. At first it seems unbalanced, but surprisingly it works. Humans can also fight the monstrous clowns, and the Klowns cannot be controlled by AI, meaning you are always playing against real players. And yes, that means you'll find yourself in lobbies with bots from time to time. These bots are basically useless, which ironically keeps the game balanced.

Meanwhile, humans need to search for items to open the various exits – it's basically a big game of hide and seek with firearms. And let's be honest, who doesn't love a good game of hide and seek with the possibility of being eaten by an alien clown?

The Resurrection of the Campy Horror

Just like 80s horror movies where no one is ever really dead, Killer Klowns from Outer Space allows players to continue playing even after death. Did he die too soon? Don't worry, you can participate in adorable minigames and earn items that can help your surviving teammates. And there's a Resurrection Machine that brings all dead players back to life once per match. Talk about turning things around!

Technical Problems: Why Nothing is Perfect

Of course, the game has its technical problems. I found bugs and disconnections in matches, but the developer is already working on fixes. Furthermore, some features are not well explained in the game, but you learn by playing.

It's like a video game from the 80s, like Circus Charlie: You died long before you understood what the hell was going on. Even so, I was there playing in the arcades and losing chips like crazy.

Worth Watching Again or Afternoon Session on Steroids?

Despite all the problems, Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a fun and unique addition to the horror-infused multiplayer genre. It balances nostalgia with modern gameplay and delivers an experience worth playing.

Seriously, it's a nostalgia that I can't explain, only those who lived through the 80s will understand. From the start screen, with that clown slide and that song retrowave, the game got me. Desperately running from clowns in a neon-filled amusement park at night is completely bizarre. And of course, it's wonderful at the same time.

• Ineffective bots can ruin some matches
• Some poorly explained features

It's as if the developers took everything that worked in the 80s, added modern graphics and a dash of dark humor, and threw it all into a cauldron of deliciously bizarre horrors. So if you're ready for a rollercoaster ride through the 80s horror circus, go ahead. And remember: it's not just a game, it's a spectacle, a respectable audience!
