Luiza Brunet cites abuse suffered by her and Xuxa: ‘People would have been arrested’

friend of Xuxa Meneghel from the beginning of her modeling career, Luiza Brunet honored the blonde at the launch of “Xuxa – O Documentário”, a series about the life of the eternal Queen of Baixinhos, celebrated on the night of Monday, July 10 at Kinoplex Platinum Rio Sul, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

“It’s good for a lot of people to see how big she is. We got used to Xuxa, got used to seeing her on television a little bit every day and we couldn’t size up the size she got. Being able to see that today is exciting”, highlighted Luiza, remembering her friend’s concerts with sold-out stadiums.

“We were very abused in many moments of our life, when we started our modeling career, because this type of procedure was common in the market as a whole”, she said in conversation with journalists during the event.

Brunet highlighted that he regrets the abuses being naturalized at the time: “It didn’t cause any discomfort because at the time we were very young, we had no experience and it wasn’t talked about, in a female agenda. There were no women’s rights, equal pay, there was no domestic or gender violence. So, everything was normal, we defended ourselves the way we thought we were going to survive”.

We paved the way, the women of that time paved the way”.

The relationship between Xuxa with Marlene Mattos was also highlighted by Luiza Brunet: “Marlene had a great importance in the structure, in the history of Xuxa, but there are abuses there too, evidently. She has deprivations, overwork,” she stated,

I think Xuxa was heavily exploited, but that was what they had at the time. Nowadays, there is no more room for this type of treatment. We have to pay attention to those who are experiencing some kind of abuse and report it. And if they had denounced what happened to Xuxa at that time, probably many people would have been arrested”.

The beauty, asked if life was “a sweet thing”, a reference to the hit “Doce Mel”, sung by the blonde, said no: “Imagine before us, before the 80s, when there was an angry dictatorship, people they could not reveal their sexual orientation, at that time they were discriminated against, beaten, killed… We are looking for an egalitarian, respectful society, in which everyone can have their space to speak and can be respected throughout the world. Gender-based violence is the biggest violation facing the world today. It’s not even hunger, it’s human violence against human beings, ”she concluded.
