MAC's Viva Glam lipstick line, which allocates 100% of sales profits to social organizations, turned 30 this week. Since 1994, the brand has benefited more than half a billion dollars from NGOs around the world. Including in Brazil, with programs to help people suffering from HIV and AIDS.
To celebrate, MAC launched a new version of the lipstick MACximal with pop artists: Kim Petras, the first trans singer to win a Grammy, and Mexican actress Danna Paola, nominated for a Latin Grammy.
The new face of MAC
German singer Kim Petras, currently residing in Los Angeles, in an interview with American Vogue, expresses her gratitude for being part of the MAC Viva Glam legacy, highlighting her love for previous campaigns and the importance of the cause. She values learning about AIDS and helping those affected, highlighting the significant impact on the LGBTQ+ community.
“It will always be something very meaningful to the LGBTQ+ community, and I think it's amazing that MAC helps spread knowledge through makeup, something I've always considered fun and a way to express myself”, says the singer. In addition to AIDS, Viva Glam now supports other equality causes, something Kim considers fundamental.
Kim also highlights the importance of performance for trans women and the gay community, but emphasizing beauty and makeup. The artist values her own happiness and encourages authenticity and adds that the opinions of others should not affect her truth.

Regarding the collection, there are four variations of lipsticks, three of which recall the brand's existing colors, such as: Viva Heart, a red with bluish touches, from 1994. Viva Planet, a more basic pinkish and shiny tone. Viva Empowered, a purplish brown launched in the 2000s and the newest launch, called Viva Equality, in nude color, capturing all skin types.
